Dzus Contamination Continues
In April 2024 contamination was uncovered on the grounds of the previous Dzus Fastener Co. property. This had previously been thought to have been fully remediated. More updates will be added as they are available.

Good Samaritan Hospital
A 300,000 square foot expansion of the hospital is underway. This is projected to be completed in 2025. Article Link
Boyd-Spencer Property
The Boyd-Spencer Funeral Home on Higbie lane has been purchased and renovated and will serve as the new location for a physical therapist. Please welcome our new neighbor, Goodman Physical Therapy to West Islip.
Town of Islip 360
Town of Islip will be hosting a kick-off meeting to discuss the new Town of Islip Comprehensive Plan also known as TOI360. This will be at Town Hall West on January 8th from 6:00-7:30. TOI360 Webpage
Dzus Property Redevelopment
Work continues on the development of the old Dzus Fastener Co. property. A new 7-Eleven convenience and gas station is fully up and running and several new tenants are set to arrive in 2024, including Brownstones Coffee.
Proposed Cell Tower
There was a community meeting about the proposed cell tower on Robert Moses Parkway on Thursday June 27th at the West Islip High School. It was conducted by the Crown Castle Communication Group. Please see the attached meeting notice from the Crown Castle group. There was a strong turnout of residents voicing their opposition and subsequently New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has denied conceptual approval.

Villa Monaco
The current plan is to replace the existing structure with a 2-story medical building. Plans are currently underway and a Town of Islip approval would be needed. Article Link
Masera School Property
On January 19th, 2021 the West Islip community overwhelmingly voted down a sale and development of apartments at the Masera school property. The school board just announced a 10-year lease agreement with BOCES, which will provide capital improvements and maintain use of the fields for the residents of West Islip. Article Link
